Out of hours service
How to access GP services 24 hours a day
I'm looking for a GP in:
Patients should contact the GP Out-of-Hours Service based at Macclesfield and Leighton hospitals via NHS 111.
East Cheshire NHS Trust's GP Out-of-Hours (OOH) team provides a safe and high-quality out-of-hours GP service.
It has two teams - the South and Vale Royal service, which is based at Leighton Hospital, and the East service, which is based at Macclesfield District General Hospital. Additionally, appointments are available at Handforth Community Centre, Congleton War Memorial Hospital Minor Injuries and Knutsford Community Hospital at weekends and bank holidays at specified times only.
The GP Out-of-Hours Service provides assessment, advice and treatment as required for urgent healthcare problems that cannot safely wait until the next time GP surgeries are open.
Patients will be asked basic information by a call handler. Patients will be then called back based on urgency of need and any necessary advice, appointments will be provided in addition to arranging GP advice and home visits.
People tell us they want more convenience and choice from GP services, including the chance to book routine appointments in the evenings and at weekends/bank holidays. They also say they do not always know where to go when they have an urgent health problem. We have worked closely with our local GP colleagues to provide you with round-the-clock access to GP services.
Booking an urgent or routine appointment with a doctor or nurse at your own GP practice, 8am - 6.30pm on weekdays.
Urgent medical care will be available through your surgery as needed. You will also be offered a routine appointment within two working days and/or the chance to book an appointment more than two days in advance, if necessary. Telephone your GP surgery to access these services.
