Could you be our next Chair?

by CWP News - 27 January 2016

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a new Chair.

Our highly regarded and successful Chair reaches the end of his terms of office in June 2016. We are now looking for an exceptional individual to succeed him in leading the Board of Directors and working with Governors, Non-Executive and Executive colleagues to drive this award winning organisation forward even further as we face future challenges.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, the new Chair will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategic agenda and will represent the Trust within a fast moving, complex partnership and stakeholder environment.

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust was established in 2002 and achieved Foundation Trust status in 2007. We employ more than 3,400 staff across 65 sites serving a population of over a million people and providing mental health, substance misuse, learning disability and community physical health services. These services are provided in partnership with commissioners, local authorities, voluntary and independent organisations, people who use our services and their carers.

The vision of CWP is about leading in partnership to deliver high quality patient centred care and we aim to recruit people who clearly demonstrate that they share our values of care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have Board or senior level expertise gained in either a commercial or public environment and will be able to demonstrate inspirational leadership along with a deep understanding of strategic management and organisational governance. Above all, they will be passionate about the quality of care for service users.

Hear from our current Chair David Eva…

What do you enjoy most about your role as Chair?

What don't I like? It's great and I love it all. Great staff, brilliant exec team, helpful and willing governors, service users and carers whose involvement really makes a difference. I enjoy seeing people succeed and recover and enjoy most seeing our work recognised and appreciated by others.

What is the biggest challenge about being Chair?

Finding the time to do everything you would want to do. Inevitably there are things you can't do, events you can't attend etc and judging what is best to go to is sometimes hard. Luckily, Sheena and previous Chief Execs have always helped me decide!!

What one piece of advice would you give to the successful applicant?

Enjoy it! It's a great organisation and people repay your trust and confidence in spades.

Where can I find out more information?

Please contact our retained consultant Diane Charnock on 07988 653669 to request an information pack or to have a confidential discussion about the role.

Closing date for applications is Friday 5 February 2016.
