CWP appoints new leader

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) has appointed Mike Maier as Chair following approval of the Council of Governors.

Mike is currently Deputy Chair for the Trust and has been a Non-Executive Director for 5 years and will take the reins as Chair from June.

The rigorous selection process included a number of stages with the involvement of people who access CWP services or care for someone who does, alongside members of the Board and health professionals.

Mike has spent the majority of his career holding senior finance positions in the private sector within manufacturing and distribution industries.

Anna Usherwood, Lead Governor, says: “Mike is well-placed to lead CWP with his strong values and a commitment to championing person-centered care. He brings a wealth of experience to the Board with solid experience and knowledge of governance and finance and will play a pivotal role in shaping care for local people.

“I would like to thank our current Chair, David Eva, for his major contribution to improving the lives of people in Wirral and Cheshire during his 15 years with the Trust. We wish him well in his future role as Chair at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust.”

Mike will lead the Board of Directors which includes Chief Executive, Sheena Cumiskey, who has been named National CEO of the Year by the Health Service Journal and Avril Devaney, Director or Nursing, who has recently been awarded an MBE for services to Nursing of People with Mental Health Problems.
