Sheena's Blog: Christmas

by Sheena Cumiskey - 24 December 2015

The last year seems to have flown by and we find ourselves already in the week before Christmas. There have been lots to celebrate this year including our CQC ‘Good’ rating for outstanding care.

I had a lovely start to Christmas at the official opening of Springview last Wednesday. CWP celebrated its recent investment into its Springview unit with a festive open evening for patients, staff, partners and the general public. Over fifty people joined us for a celebratory evening. The full refurbishment of the building has included making all rooms on the wards en suite and a brand new gym facility - a move made possible by the Trust’s purchase of the Springview site. The evening included a performance from special guests Merseyside Rock Choir who had everyone jigging along with the music. The unit was lovingly adorned with Christmas decorations and we all enjoyed refreshments provided by both staff and patients from the unit.

Christmas is all about giving and I am delighted that Team CWP has been able to collect together a huge number of care wash packages to be distributed to local hostels for the homeless. Thank you all who contributed to this.

Finally, I know that this is always a busy time of year trying to juggle work and home commitments. If you can, do try to find some time to pause and reflect about how important it is to connect and make time to spend with people. Whilst for many people Christmas is a joyful time of celebration, for some it is quite the reverse and the lack of recognition of this for them can make them feel even more sad and isolated. So please do try to find some time to spend connecting with people amongst our Christmas busy-ness.

Wishing you and your loved ones a Very Merry Christmas and A Peaceful New Year.
