Trust magazine shortlisted for prestigious award

by CWP News - 25 July 2016

A local NHS trust’s quarterly magazine is one of 6 publications to be shortlisted for the ‘Best Publication Award’ by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) launched its new magazine, CWP Life, in June 2015. CWP Life has been designed and produced in collaboration with those who use services, carers, staff and governors to make sure that it is packed full of real and useful content.

The CIPR PRide Awards recognise the work organisations have been delivering to their clients and employers across the UK. CWP is one of six organisations to be shortlisted for the ‘Best Publication Award’.

Chief Executive Sheena Cumiskey said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award. Our core aim is to make this magazine more about the people of CWP and their stories – the people who work tirelessly each day to provide excellent care, the people who work alongside us to deliver joined up care, and most importantly, the people who access our services, their carers and families.”

Gavin Owen, who shared his story in the latest edition of the magazine, said: ““I think CWP Life is a great way for people and staff to share their own experiences, whether that is working at the Trust or how they were treated as a patient.  It illustrates the different services that are provided and makes members feel more involved.”

He added “Being featured in the magazine was a positive experience for me.  Even close friends and family have said that it has given them more understanding of how my injury has affected my day to day life. It was therapeutic to talk about my journey and know that someone might read it and gain something from it. I think it’s important to know that other people have gone through similar experiences and come out the other side.”
