Welcome to Mulberry Ward and Silk Ward

13 February 2020

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) were recently delighted to announce the opening of two new mental health wards in Macclesfield.

Now, you can take a look inside our two, brand new, state-of-the-art specialist mental health wards in the video below. In our introduction, you can see the inside of the wards, where service user and staff design ideas were taken into account. You can also hear the views of staff members who will be working on the wards, who share their views on what they think of the new space and the benefits the developments will bring to our service users.

We are also delighted to share three interviews with our staff who will be working on the wards.

Kate Chapman - Acting head of clinical services, clinical redesign

"I think this space will benefit our service users massively"

Jon Walters - Clinical lead, Mulberry Ward

"A contemporary building for a contemporary service"

Clare Sweetmore - Ward manager, Mulberry Ward

"It's going to be absolutely amazing"

Silk and Mulberry Wards are the result of a £4.5 million investment programme to modernise inpatient services for people who require a hospital stay, as part of wider improvements to local mental health services.
