CP38 Seclusion and Segregation policy
Target Audience
All inpatient staff
Purpose
The policy sets out best practice in supporting service users who require ‘supervised confinement’ for a period of time. The guidance is based on best practice and guidance from the Mental Health Act Code of Practice [2015] for practices in relation to the seclusion environment, segregation and the needs of the individual for privacy, dignity, nutrition and medication. In addition, the procedures for recording and reviewing seclusion are outlined in the policy along with the appropriate recording proforma.
