IC15 Creuzfeld Jakob Disease (CJD) Policy
Target Audience
All CWP staff
Purpose
CJD is the main prion disease in humans. Currently there is no evidence to suggest that CJD or variant CJD is transmitted from person to person via close contact and that the main risk in healthcare settings is via invasive procedures. This policy aims to ensure that all Trust staff understand how CJD is transmitted and the precautions that are necessary when caring for an affected service user.
