Target Audience

Medical and Nursing staff within learning disability services

Purpose

The policy pulls together best available evidence for use of Midazolam as a rescue medication in epilepsy. Guidance on prescribing is provided and standards are set for the administering and monitoring of this drug. The aim of the policy is to ensure Midazolam is used effectively and in as safe a manner as possible so as to provide patients with consistent best practice.
