Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team are a group of specialist practitioners who advise, support and empower both staff and patients within community services and health care settings across East, West and Wirral localities.
Our specialist team work together with all healthcare staff to identify infection risks and ensure patients receive care in a safe and clean environment.
The Infection Prevention & Control Team focuses on preventing the spread of infections, particularly in healthcare settings by interrupting the chain of transmission. Preventing and reducing the transmission of infectious diseases is essential to ensuring people stay healthy. We work with care providers to provide support and advice to reduce infections and ensure people receive person-centred support that follows effective IPC measures.
We also work with care providers to reduce the rising rates of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR is a global problem that makes infections harder to treat with existing medicines. High standards of IPC reduce the opportunities for infections to spread and for resistance to develop.
The team covers community services and mental health settings across East, West and Wirral localities. We provide support to Cheshire and Wirral Partnership settings, Care Homes, GP Surgeries, Community Care Teams, Health Centre’s and many more.
The team provide specialist support and advice to both staff and patients.
