We are a specialist service which provides care and support to people of all ages diagnosed with TB.
We offer TB screening for individuals who are at high-risk of developing TB. We also support in the delivery of the BCG Targeted Programme for eligible individuals above the age of 2 years old.
What is TB?
Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by the bacteria, Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. TB most commonly affects the lungs, but you can get TB in any part of the body. TB is curable with a course of antibiotics, usually lasting 6 months. TB in the larynx and lungs is the only type of TB that is infectious. This means that it can be spread to other people by coughing or singing.

We do not accept referrals for immigration, travel, or visa purposes.
Before travelling to the UK, people from high TB incidence countries will have had a chest x-ray done in their home country. The chest x-ray only identifies TB in the lungs and not latent TB infection. Latent TB can only be detected by a blood test (IGRA) or skin test (Mantoux). We offer treatment for latent TB to prevent it becoming active.
If you or your family have come to the UK from the following countries, and have not been offered screening, please contact us for more details on 01244 397700.
