Infant Feeding Team

Our Infant Feeding Team are dedicated to infant feeding and relationship building. Mothers and babies are at the heart of the work we do and our aim is to enable mothers to breastfeed by providing support and information, both before and after a baby is born. Additionally, if you have decided to formula feed, we will support you to do so as safely and responsively as possible.

We can offer help and support with positioning and attachment, over supply, discontinuing use of nipple shields, mastitis, expressing, breastfeeding when returning to work and helping you to stop your breastfeeding journey when the time is right for you. We are also able to refer you to further specialist support if this is required.

Support for breastfeeding is delivered in partnership with the Health Visiting Service staff who can also continue to provide support.

  • How to access

If you feel you would benefit from our service, please contact your health visitor and ask for a referral to be made. Alternatively come along too one of our groups.

  • Groups

These offer a friendly and relaxed environment for women to meet other breastfeeding mums and form a support network, as well as to get help with breastfeeding issues.  We welcome mums to attend with older siblings and encourage pregnant women to join us and talk about breastfeeding, meet the team and become familiar with the group.  This may help new mums to feel more confident to attend once the baby has arrived. If you wish to bring your partner/ family member / friend who is supporting you to breast feed, they are very welcome. You can seek advice from our trained Breast Feeding Infant feeding Health professional, or receive information and support from our Breast Feeding Peer Supporters.
