Congratulations to the CWP First Response Service who have been highly commended at the Health Service Journal Digital Awards in the ‘Improving Urgent and Emergency Care through Digital’ category.HSJ web.png

The judges celebrated CWP’s Digital Care Coordination Tool, which is transforming the way mental health crisis care is being delivered locally. Developed in partnership with Palantir Technologies and NHS England, the application was the first mental health application to go live on the National Federated Data Platform (NHS FDP) and functions as a monitoring interface for the urgent care mental health First Response Service.

It assists in mapping patients to appropriate on duty staff and prompts a swift response to mental health crises. The initiative ultimately aims to boost crisis response efficiency, improve patient outcomes and ensure the Trust's motto of “right place, right time, right people” is consistently applied.

Suzanne Edwards, Director of Operations and Deputy Chief Executive at CWP, said:
"This project is a fantastic example of innovation and collaboration. By using real-time data and working alongside trusted partners, we’ve created a safer, more compassionate response for people in crisis. It’s helping our staff work more efficiently while making a real difference to patient care. We’re proud to see this work recognised nationally."

Gemma, a CWP Lived Experience Volunteer, reflects: "When you go to A&E for something mental health-related, it’s usually a last resort, you don’t expect it to be a very positive experience. So, anything that reduces the waiting time and helps you get the right help sooner is really reassuring. Knowing this tool is in place means you wouldn’t have to wait as long to get the support you need."

The HSJ Digital Awards aim to celebrate the power of digital initiatives to transform patient care, improve access to services, and deliver more efficient, equitable healthcare.
