Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) is delighted to announce that its ambitious programme to digitise medication prescribing and administration has been shortlisted for the HSJ Digital Awards 2026 in the category Improving Medicines and Pharmacy through Digital.

The shortlisted entry recognises CWP’s innovative work to enhance safety, efficiency and patient experience across its inpatient and community services.

CWP Medical Director and Digital Lead, Faouzi Alam, says “The programme represents a major step forward in replacing historic paper-based processes with a digital, modern and safer approach to prescribing and medicines administration. Delivered collaboratively by CWP’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Team, Pharmacy Team and digital colleagues, the project has demonstrated improved safety features, more efficient working freeing up clinical time, more timely access to medication for community patients and reduced medication-related errors. In just two months, more than 1,400 digital prescriptions were issued, saving over 800 letters and more than £1,000 per month in recorded delivery costs.”

Faouzi continues, “CWP are honoured to be shortlisted for this national award which is a recognition of our dedication to driving meaningful change through technology, improving patient outcomes, streamlining processes, and enhancing the overall quality of care. Being shortlisted is a testament to CWPs unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in digital healthcare and reflects the dedication of our team and their relentless pursuit of digital advancements that truly make a difference in patient care.”

The winners will be revealed at the HSJ Digital Awards ceremony in May, a night dedicated to celebrating the brightest minds and most impactful projects in digital health.
